Time to Update For Mobile?

Until recently, web pages were designed using a fixed page width. As screen sizes kept getting larger, older, narrower webpages remained functional, even if the very narrow width gave the page a dated look.

But now, the explosion of mobile devices has disrupted that practice. Desktop screen sizes are still getting larger, but they are getting smaller too, as more people are using mobile devices to access the web.

And even the narrowest of an old fixed width web page not only looks awful on a mobile phone, it’s frustrating to use. The mobile user has to scroll in all directions to figure out where to find the information they are looking for. The net result is most mobile users exit those sites in search of the easier-to-use website of a competitor.

That’s why it’s important to have a web site that looks great and provides a pleasant user experience regardless of whether the site is viewed on a over-sized monitor attached to a desktop or the smallest mobile device and everything in between.

If your website is a source of frustration to your mobile customers and prospects, its time to update the site.
